德國外長 further called for broader use of financial sanctions against member states accused of violating so-called 'rule of law' standards. Under von der Leyen’s leadership, Brussels froze funds earmarked for both Hungary and Poland during disputes over their governance. Wadephul additionally argued that the bloc requires a more coherent and centralized foreign policy posture.

Stay up to date, stay inspired, and continue enjoying your gaming. Have a wonderful weekend! Dutch gambling regulator sends Meta thousands of reports on illegal gambling ads In April, the Netherlands' gambling authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), submitted more than 4,600 reports to Meta concerning advertisements for unlicensed gambling operations. The regulator is targeting illicit operators who leverage the fame of Dutch sports figures and established brands to appear legitimate. There are additional worries about licensed gambling advertisements that violate age-targeting rules on Facebook and Instagram. Research points to the need for stricter controls, such as requiring ads to be pre-approved, and the Dutch government is evaluating a potential total prohibition on gambling advertising. The KSA is also engaging with businesses to safeguard their intellectual property and address unlawful operators on social media platforms. Gaming executives remain optimistic as industry growth continues; sports event contracts drive rising industry concern The most recent Gaming Industry Outlook from the American Gaming Association reveals a net positive sentiment of 21.4% among industry leaders, even though 81% view sports event contracts on prediction markets as a major hazard. Key metrics indicate a confident sector, with the Gaming Conditions Index rising 1.5% compared to the previous year. Leaders anticipate greater capital expenditure and rising revenues over the coming six to twelve months. Nonetheless, the threat posed by prediction market platforms offering contracts on sports events is an increasing worry. Executives also cited inflation, import taxes, and rivalry from emerging gaming formats as possible challenges. The AGA study, carried out by Oxford Economics, incorporates perspectives from 26 high-level gaming industry executives, offering a view into the sector's expansion and prospects. Focus Gaming News expands into the UAE at a defining moment for the industry Focus Gaming News, a leading gaming industry publication, has debuted a specialized website for the United Arab Emirates to report on the nation's growing gaming market. The establishment of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in 2023 to oversee commercial gaming represents a key development. The new site, Focus Gaming News UAE, will offer extensive reporting on subjects including retail and digital gaming, sports wagering, regulatory affairs, and major industry gatherings. This move into the UAE is strategically timed, as the area is viewed as a lucrative market with significant growth prospects. By concentrating on providing expert commentary and evaluation, Focus Gaming News intends to be a primary resource for professionals operating within the dynamic gaming scene in the UAE and internationally. Ukrainian gambling regulator rolls out digital complaints platform Ukraine's gambling regulator, PlayCity, has unveiled a digital platform for citizens to report illicit gambling ads. Individuals can now report infractions across different channels and submit proof such as screen captures or videos. The platform stores all reports and is capable of evaluating temporary content. Upon verifying a breach, PlayCity can demand the content be taken down, impose fines on violators, or suspend social media profiles. The authority has previously levied fines and restricted pages hosting banned material. Created under Law No.9526d, this new mechanism seeks to uphold advertising regulations and block online gambling access for military members. PlayCity has also introduced an online portal for gambling license applications, streamlining procedures and minimizing paperwork. Isle of Man’s Gambling Legislation (Amendment) Bill advances for royal assent The Isle of Man's House of Keys has passed updated gambling laws, which introduce personnel vetting and financial penalties for non-compliance. The amendments are designed to bolster sector regulations, incorporating a "fitness and propriety" check for licensees and a system of civil fines for infractions. The Gambling Supervision Commission has initiated public feedback periods on the proposed standards and penalty framework. Treasury Minister Chris Thomas highlighted working with industry participants to enact the reforms. This regulatory tightening comes after the island's money laundering risk was graded as "medium high." The updated rules are slated to become operational this summer. British Gambling Commission laments “misconceptions running wild” over financial risk checks At the Ethical Gambling Forum, the Gambling Commission's Executive Director, Tim Miller, supported the regulator's work on financial risk assessments (FRAs). Miller stressed the value of these checks in spotting at-risk players, notwithstanding criticism from the industry. A pilot scheme indicated that just a minor fraction of active accounts would trigger an assessment, correcting false impressions about the scale of affordability checks. Miller confirmed that requests for documents after a financial risk alert would not be mandated. The Commission will shortly present proposals to its board, underlining the necessity for robust data and governmental backing for any modifications. Should they proceed, the Commission will work with the industry and other bodies to formulate a practical approach. The final verdict on financial risk checks rests with the Commission's Board.

Romania’s gambling reforms ensnared by populist political crisis iGame

Romania’s gambling reforms ensnared by populist political crisis

(AsiaGameHub) - On May 5, 2026, Romania witnessed the downfall of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan’s government after it lost a vote of no confidence. This collapse was orchestrated by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) aligning with the far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians. With minimal warning, the PSD withdrew from the ruling coalition, unwilling to continue absorbing the political costs associated with Bolojan’s austerity measures and fiscal reforms. These developments do not indicate an immediate far-right takeover, but rather point to an extended period of political instability as Romania attempts to negotiate a new coalition capable of addressing the country’s economic liabilities and fiscal discipline. Stasya Yautodzyeva For Romania’s gambling sector, the government’s collapse signals further political uncertainty and increasing populist pressure on policymaking at a critical juncture, as parliament is mandated to revise the provisions of the 2009 Gambling Act of Romania. “These developments are significant for gambling licenses because the sector was already moving deeper into a negative political cycle before the government fell,” stated Stasya Yautodzyeva, Head of Analytics at 4H Agency. “Concerns regarding addiction, the visibility of betting shops and slot halls, aggressive advertising, and the social impact of gambling had been accumulating for years across political and public discourse.” Romania advanced significant gambling reforms during 2026, with lawmakers prioritizing stronger consumer protections and tighter local oversight of gambling venues. The Senate also put forward a proposal to raise the legal gambling age from 18 to 21, as part of a package of gambling reforms intended to “protect the age of innocence.” The most impactful measure came through GEO 7/2026, enacted on February 25, granting municipalities the authority to restrict or completely ban betting shops and slot machine halls. More than nine cities, including Buzău and Focșani, have already begun to exercise these veto powers. Meanwhile, Romania’s National Gambling Office (ONJN) has continued to modernize its responsible gambling infrastructure through the deployment of a permanent national self-exclusion system. The platform is designed to provide a fully integrated framework covering all licensed operators, with nationwide implementation expected by Q2 2026. In 2025, the governance of Romania’s gambling sector came under intense political scrutiny following high-profile failures linked to the ONJN, which failed multiple state audits and was accused of being unable to account for nearly €1 billion in gambling-related tax liabilities. Calls for sweeping reform were led by the Save Romania Union (USR), which proposed dismantling the ONJN entirely as part of a broader restructuring of Romania’s gambling oversight framework. While the regulator ultimately remained in place, the government moved to impose significant institutional reforms under the leadership of new ONJN President Vlad Sorare, who has been directly tasked with overhauling the agency’s accountability structures and regulatory controls. “However, the current political instability is making an already challenging environment even more difficult for the industry,” Yautodzyeva added. “As right-wing and populist forces gain influence, anti-gambling rhetoric is becoming sharper and more politically useful.” “Lawmakers and local politicians increasingly frame gambling not merely as a regulated entertainment sector, but as a public health and social harm issue, openly describing it as ‘toxic’ and calling for stronger restrictions or the removal of venues from communities.” “The most likely near-term outcome from the current Romanian political shake-up is therefore not a radical policy reversal, but the formation of another pro-European government that broadly maintains the current trajectory.” No Snap President Nicușor Dan has already ruled out snap elections and stated that the process should ultimately result in a new pro-Western government, reinforcing expectations of continuity rather than a major political reset. However, the negotiations are likely to be a protracted affair and could interfere with any regulatory proceedings. Against this backdrop, populist rhetoric and the fallout of Romania’s political crisis may significantly shape the next phase of gambling reform, as coalition parties negotiate the formation of a new government and seek politically visible policy targets. “Under this scenario, the market should expect continued high tax and licensing burdens, stronger enforcement from the ONJN, tighter advertising restrictions, expansion of self-exclusion mechanisms, and further strengthening of municipal powers over land-based gambling venues. For operators, this would represent a model of ‘managed pressure’ rather than prohibition.” “The ongoing political crisis makes an already politically sensitive industry an even easier target for taxation, local restrictions, and public health-driven regulation. In periods of fiscal stress, gambling becomes an easy source of additional budget revenue through higher taxes, license fees, and sector-specific charges.” This article is provided by a third-party. Flutter Entertainment reviews LSE listing as US accounts for heavy Q1 iGame

Flutter Entertainment reviews LSE listing as US accounts for heavy Q1

(AsiaGameHub) - Flutter Entertainment is evaluating its position on the London Stock Exchange, just under two years after it transitioned its primary listing to the New York Stock Exchange. The Dublin-based gambling conglomerate has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since Betfair’s £1.4bn IPO in 2010. However, recent disclosures in its Q1 financial results have raised questions about its future there. “We are undertaking a review of our London Stock Exchange listed ordinary shares,” the company noted in its Q1 2026 presentation materials. “The conclusion of this review may result in the delisting of Flutter’s ordinary shares from the LSE. It is anticipated that this review will be completed during Q2 2026 and an update to shareholders will be provided in due course. “The NYSE listing of Flutter ordinary shares will not be impacted by the possible cancellation of the LSE listing.” A potential shift in direction for Flutter? The news regarding a possible London delisting comes amid broader questions about the operator's future strategic path. The company maintains a portfolio of major UK and Irish betting brands, including Paddy Power, Betfair, and Sky Bet, alongside prominent US names like FanDuel and PokerStars, and other leading brands in Europe and South America. The Q1 2026 report showed a strong opening to the year, with group revenues rising 17% year-on-year to $4.3bn (£3.5bn). This financial performance coincided with a change in leadership; Christian Genetski has succeeded Amy Howe as FanDuel CEO, and Dan Taylor, the former CEO of Flutter International, has stepped into the newly established role of President of Flutter Entertainment. While it remains to be seen if these changes indicate a new strategy, US revenue reached $1.76bn, representing approximately 41% of the total group figure. Given the ongoing growth in the US market, coupled with tax challenges in its second-largest market (the UK and Ireland) and an investor base increasingly dominated by US stakeholders, a departure from London would not be unexpected. Cayman Islands-based US billionaire Kenneth Dart reportedly holds more than 25% of the company, which is currently finishing a $250m share buyback as part of a broader $5bn program expected to continue for several years. Additionally, six of the company's top nine investors are based in the US. One notable exception is the London-based Parvus Asset Management, which increased its stake in Flutter to nearly 10.7% in March 2026, up from 5.1%. However, many long-term investors have yet to see significant returns. Flutter’s share price is currently £74.74, representing a decline of nearly 49% over the last five years. Moving to a single listing on the NYSE could provide the company with access to larger pools of institutional capital and may signal further growth efforts in the US and globally. The London departure trend The LSE has experienced several significant departures recently. Fintech firm Wise PLC moved its primary listing across the Atlantic, Deliveroo left the exchange following its acquisition by DoorDash, and travel giant TUI opted to move its primary listing to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. A delisting by Flutter would be another setback for the London exchange. It remains one of the largest companies listed there, though it is excluded from the FTSE 100 because its primary listing is located overseas. It is still unclear if a total withdrawal from the LSE would change Flutter's strategy for its UK-based businesses. Nevertheless, a complete focus on the US for its public shares has been anticipated for some time and would be a logical progression in the current climate. This article is provided by a third-party. Inplay Matrix enhances live betting with AI commentator Sister Song iGame

Inplay Matrix enhances live betting with AI commentator Sister Song

(AsiaGameHub) - The sports betting industry is more competitive than ever. With the constant emergence of new markets, options, and opportunities for players, a sportsbook can often become an overwhelming experience for some users. New technologies may offer a straightforward solution to this challenge, and that is precisely what Inplay Matrix is working to deliver. Samuel Ng, Product Development Director at the B2B sportsbook technology provider, tells SBC News about their live AI commentator, Sister Song, which delivers real-time tips and reasoning during matches, providing players with someone to follow rather than a betting strategy to master. The solution was created to provide users with a recommendation, along with the reasoning behind it, through insights grounded in comprehensive data. Unlike a traditional odds feed or static tip widget, Sister Song narrates the live experience. According to Ng, this logic chain allows bettors to play beyond hunches alone, building player confidence in the platform. “Think of it as a powerful alternative to live streamer hosts who provide betting suggestions during live matches,” the Product Development Director says. “New and regular players who want a trusted person to follow in live betting now have that, backed by data.” Sister Song sits alongside Uncle Boris, Inplay Matrix’s other AI tips companion. But the two are deliberately distinct: Uncle Boris handles pre-match analysis and reasoning, while Sister Song takes over once the action is underway. “Uncle Boris is designed to provide pre-match tips and reasoning. Sister Song is designed to provide live-match tips and reasoning,” Ng explains. A tool for a specific kind of player Ng is careful not to oversell the feature’s scope. Sister Song isn’t designed for every bettor. Instead, it targets a specific and growing segment: newer players who find the learning curve steep, and time-limited players who prefer to follow an expert rather than build their own analytical framework from scratch. “It will definitely improve new bettors’ onboarding experience,” Ng says. “They don’t need to learn how to select bets from scratch with these features.” For operators, that translates to lower drop-off at the live betting interface, a notoriously high-friction moment for casual users. However, Ng resists the idea that AI is on a path to replace the sportsbook experience itself, and explains both Sister Song and Uncle Boris are “support tools to fill a gap in a specific group of players who seek betting recommendations.” In that sense, he explains that “not all players need an AI tool to support their betting decisions.” Where this fits in Inplay Matrix’s roadmap Sister Song and Uncle Boris are designed to operate independently, each targeting different markets with different personalities. But they hint at a broader direction: Inplay Matrix is exploring additional AI agents built around distinct betting strategies, allowing players to select which reasoning style suits them best. For operators weighing the business case, Ng acknowledges one commercially attractive implication: AI-driven engagement may reduce dependence on bonuses and promotions as the primary retention lever. But he’s measured about it, and assures “bonuses and promotions are still necessary for operators’ member acquisition plans.” Operator-level customization is on the roadmap, though not yet available. For now, Sister Song is InPlayMatrix’s clearest statement yet that the next frontier of sportsbook differentiation won’t be won on odds alone. This article is provided by a third-party. How to Travel More Often Without Increasing Your Budget ACN Newswire

How to Travel More Often Without Increasing Your Budget

SINGAPORE, May 8, 2026 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Travelling more frequently does not always require a bigger income or a higher monthly spend. With thoughtful planning and smarter use of financial tools, travel expenses can be managed in a way that feels more sustainable. For many people in Singapore, using a miles credit card can help turn everyday spending into future travel opportunities. When used carefully, miles earned from regular expenses may gradually reduce flight and travel costs, making short getaways and annual holidays more achievable without stretching the budget. In a city like Singapore, where flights to nearby destinations such as Bangkok, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, and Tokyo are common, earning more miles can bring your next destinations within reach.Understanding How Travel Miles WorkTravel miles are reward points earned when you spend on eligible cards, particularly miles-focused credit cards. These miles can later be redeemed for flights, seat upgrades, or travel-related perks, depending on the airline or rewards programme. In Singapore, many miles credit cards offer earning rates ranging from 1.2 to 1.6 miles per SGD 1 spent locally, while overseas spending can go up to 2 to 4 miles per SGD 1. This means a monthly expense of around SGD 2,000 could generate approximately 2,400 to 3,200 miles, depending on the card and category. How Using a Miles Credit Card Can Help Reduce Travel CostsEarning miles on everyday expensesDaily costs, such as groceries, petrol, mobile bills, streaming subscriptions, and dining, can earn miles when charged to the right card. For example, a household spending around SGD 1,500-2,500 monthly on routine expenses may slowly build enough miles for a regional return flight within a year. However, it is important to know that different miles credit cards reward spending in different ways. Some offer higher miles on everyday categories like dining, groceries, or online shopping, while others give bonus miles on travel-related spending such as flights, hotels, or overseas transactions. There are also general spending cards that let you steadily earn miles on most purchases.Choosing a card that matches your spending habits can help you turn everyday expenses into miles for future trips.Reducing airfare expenses through redemptionsRedeeming miles for flights may help reduce ticket prices significantly. A return economy flight from Singapore to Bangkok may require around 25,000-30,000 miles. You can use your miles to partially or fully cover airfare, and the remaining budget can be put toward hotels or experiences.Lowering upgrade and comfort costsMiles can also be used for seat upgrades. Instead of paying cash for premium economy or business class, travellers may use miles to improve comfort, especially on long-haul routes.Strategic Ways to Earn Miles Faster in SingaporeFocusing on high-mile categoriesSome cards offer bonus miles on dining, online shopping, ride-hailing, or travel bookings. Using these cards for those categories may increase earning rates from around 1.2 miles per dollar on general spending to as much as 4 miles per dollar. On a SGD 800 dining and online spend, earning 4 miles per dollar instead of 1.2 can result in over 2,000 extra miles per month.Timing big purchases thoughtfullyExpenses such as annual insurance premiums, electronics, furniture, or education fees can be timed during promotional periods. Banks in Singapore often run limited-time campaigns offering 5x to 10x miles or bonus mile packages, which may accelerate mile accumulation without increasing total spending.Using sign-up and retention bonuses wiselyMany miles credit cards offer welcome bonuses ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 miles, depending on minimum spend. When planned well, these bonuses can cover a significant portion of a flight ticket redemption and support more frequent travel plans.Making the Most of Miles RedemptionsBooking flights early for better valueAward seats are limited, especially during school holidays and festive periods. Planning trips three to six months ahead may provide better redemption availability and lower mileage requirements.Comparing cash prices versus miles usageSometimes, budget airline fares from Singapore can be as low as SGD 80-150, serving more value for longer distances. Comparing cents-per-mile value helps ensure miles are used where they make the most impact.Using miles for one-way travelRedeeming miles for one-way flights can provide flexibility. Travellers might use miles for departure and cash for return or vice versa.Planning Travel Around Miles Instead of DatesChoosing destinations based on redemption valueSelecting destinations based on miles availability can help maintain a steady travel rhythm throughout the year. Southeast Asian destinations, for example, often provide higher value per mile compared to long-haul routes.Flying during off-peak periodsAvoiding school holidays and major public holidays may require fewer miles and save 10-20% on mileage costs, enabling more trips using the same balance.Managing Costs Beyond FlightsUsing travel perks included with miles credit cardsMany cards in Singapore offer complimentary travel insurance, airport lounge access, and dining discounts. These benefits can reduce out-of-pocket costs that would otherwise add several hundred dollars per trip.Pairing miles with hotel dealsBooking hotels during flash sales, credit card promotions, or through airline hotel partners may further reduce travel expenses. Savings of SGD 100-300 per stay can significantly impact overall trip budgeting.Travelling More Without Spending MoreA miles credit card, when used responsibly, can help convert routine expenses into future travel opportunities. By understanding earning structures, planning redemptions carefully, and staying flexible with destinations and travel dates, Singapore-based travellers can make travel a regular part of life rather than an occasional luxury. With patience and mindful usage, miles can quietly add up-one grocery bill, one meal, and one monthly expense at a time-helping turn travel dreams into achievable plans.Disclaimer: This content is published by iQuanti Singapore Pte.

Brazilian court dismisses gambling loss lawsuit iGame

Brazilian court dismisses gambling loss lawsuit

(AsiaGameHub) - The court ruled that the bets were placed voluntarily and dismissed the platform’s liability. Brazil.- The 3rd Special Civil Court of Anápolis, in Goiás, rejected a lawsuit brought against Novibet, in which a player sought the cancellation of sports bets made on the platform. The gambler had also requested the return of approximately R$ 50,000 (€8,500) in betting losses plus R$ 10,000 (€ 1,700) as compensation for moral damages. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claimed he began using the platform in 2022, prior to the regulation of online gambling in Brazil last year, and that a recreational habit had developed into a case of gambling addiction, officially diagnosed as Gambling Disorder. According to the court records, the gambler asserted that the operator had failed to implement effective blocking and warning measures as required by responsible gambling policies. However, Novibet’s defense maintained that all bets were placed voluntarily by a legally competent adult and emphasized that the company offers control tools such as deposit limits, alerts, and self-exclusion options. In her judgment, Judge Luciana de Araújo Camapum Ribeiro first denied a motion questioning the jurisdiction of the Special Court and determined that technical expertise was unnecessary to assess the case. Upon reviewing the substance of the claims, the magistrate observed that betting contracts are inherently aleatory and that the risk of loss is an integral part of the activity. The ruling further clarified that a diagnosis of gambling addiction, by itself, does not invalidate legal transactions conducted by a person with full legal capacity. According to the decision, there was no evidence of a service failure by the platform, fraudulent conduct, or unjustified retention of funds. The judge also stated that holding the operator accountable for the user’s financial losses could create legal uncertainty and promote risky behavior among other players. Consequently, the court dismissed any civil liability attributed to the platform. The ruling also noted that Ordinance SPA/MF No. 1,231/2024 sets out guidelines for monitoring and promoting responsible gaming but does not impose on operators the duty to safeguard clients’ financial lives. During her reasoning, the judge referenced similar rulings from the Court of Justice of São Paulo in cases involving requests for reimbursement of losses incurred on online betting platforms, where the prevailing view was that such transactions were made voluntarily. The decision also nullified preliminary injunctions previously issued in the case. This article is provided by a third-party. Mexico Fuels Codere Online’s Strong Q1 Performance Ahead of World Cup 2026

(AsiaGameHub) - The online gambling operator returned to profit amid double-digit growth in active customers and revenue in Mexico. Spain.- Codere Online has reported solid growth in the first quarter of 2026, with Mexico standing out as a key driver. The Nasdaq-listed operator recorded revenue of €60.3m (£54.7m), a 16 per cent increase from Q1 2025. Adjusted EBITDA rose from €1.8m to €6m, while net income swung from a €700,000 loss to a €7m profit. Marcus Arildsson, Codere Online’s CFO, described the quarter as “a clear step forward in profitability,” highlighting the EBITDA growth and return to net profit. The strong start contrasts with full-year 2025, which closed with a €1.8m net loss. Casino operations accounted for 63 per cent of group revenue, with sportsbook contributing 37 per cent. Growth was supported by a 14 per cent increase in active customers, now totalling 183 million. Mexico delivered standout results, boding well for the operator as the country prepares to host the FIFA World Cup with the US and Canada starting next month. Mexican net gaming revenue (NGR) climbed 13 per cent to €34.6m on the back of a 20 per cent increase in the number of active customers. The upcoming World Cup is expected to further boost engagement, though the Mexican market continues to face challenges amid the gambling “sin tax” introduced last year. In Spain, NGR rose 16 per cent year-on-year to €25.5m. Across Codere’s other core territories of Argentina, Colombia and Panama, combined revenue dipped by 2 per cent to €4.4m. Codere Online projects full-year revenue of €235–245m and EBITDA of €15–20m, which would compare to €224.1m and €13.8m respectively in 2025. CEO Aviv Sher commented: “We delivered a very strong start to 2026, achieving record quarterly net gaming revenue of €64.4m, up 13 per cent year-on-year. In Spain, performance accelerated meaningfully, with net gaming revenue growing 16 per cent, reflecting a clear continuation and acceleration of the positive trends we began to see in the second half of 2025, particularly in the fourth quarter. Codere Online was spun off from Grupo Codere in 2021. Grupo Codere retains a majority stake but is reportedly exploring a potential sale, with some reports citing a potential $2bn valuation. LCKY Group to Acquire RoyalCasino iGame

LCKY Group to Acquire RoyalCasino

(AsiaGameHub) - Denmark-facing RoyalCasino will boost the proportion of LCKY Group’s revenue from regulated markets. Denmark.- Malta-based LCKY Group has reached an agreement to acquire RoyalCasino, a Danish online casino operator operating exclusively within the country’s regulated iGaming market. The brand will become part of LCKY’s existing portfolio, which includes LuckyCasino, HappyCasino, FlaxCasino, Vera&John, and OneCasino. The acquisition strengthens the presence of LCKY Group, formerly known as Glitnor Group, in Denmark while increasing the share of its revenue generated from regulated markets. The deal is expected to provide immediate financial benefits, with pro-forma estimates indicating a revenue increase of 18 to 20 per cent and an EBITDA improvement of 29–31 per cent. Richard Brown, CEO of LCKY Group, described the move as “highly strategic and financially compelling”. “RoyalCasino brings both strong market presence and high-quality earnings in Denmark, a market that closely aligns with our focus on regulated, sustainable growth,” he added. Brown continued: “The transaction enhances our scale, strengthens our competitive position, and offers clear opportunities to drive synergies and long-term value creation. We look forward to collaborating closely with the RoyalCasino team to realise these opportunities.” Per Petersen, CEO of RoyalCasino, stated: “Our industry is marked by high levels of innovation and competition, and we believe the combination of RoyalCasino’s local expertise and LCKY’s international scale and iGaming experience represents an excellent foundation for mutual success. We are excited to introduce LCKY to our Danish customer base.” The deal remains subject to regulatory approval, with completion anticipated in the second half of 2026. RoyalCasino was advised by Partis. Financial details, including the purchase price and funding arrangements, have not been disclosed. The announcement precedes new gambling advertising restrictions in Denmark, which include a complete ban on ads during live sports broadcasts and tighter limits on outdoor promotions and free-to-play bonuses. Dutch gambling regulator submits thousands of reports to Meta over illegal gambling ads iGame

Dutch gambling regulator submits thousands of reports to Meta over illegal gambling ads

(AsiaGameHub) - The KSA is also targeting unlicensed operators that misuse the names and logos of prominent Dutch athletes and brands. The Netherlands.- The Dutch gambling authority, the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), reports it submitted more than 4,600 reports to Meta in April concerning ads for unlicensed gambling. As part of its task force on illegal gambling, the regulator has increased how often it reports to the parent company of Facebook and Instagram about advertisements from operators lacking a KSA licence. It states that a recent meeting of the coalition also involved exchanging up-to-date knowledge, trends, and insights. The working group also talked about how firms can safeguard their trademarks and conducted a brainstorming session on what further actions are required to address illegal providers on social media platforms. “Illegal gambling operators run numerous advertisements on social media,” the KSA stated. “They use the names and logos of famous Dutch athletes and major brands to appear more trustworthy. Consumers often find it hard to tell if a gambling operator is licensed. To safeguard consumers, the KSA is therefore intensifying its efforts to fight online advertising by illegal operators.” Concerns over licensed gambling ads in the Netherlands Concerns in the Netherlands extend beyond just unlicensed gambling advertisements. A recent study from the City University of Hong Kong and the University of Bristol revealed that a substantial share of advertisements from KSA-licensed gambling operators on Facebook and Instagram may have violated age-targeting rules. While online gaming licensees were more compliant, with just 7.3 per cent of their ads failing to meet standards, offline licence holders showed a far higher non-compliance rate, with close to 30 per cent of their campaigns breaking the Dutch prohibition on targeting individuals under 24. The violations were partly attributed to dependence on Meta’s automated Advantage+ optimisation tool, which sets the initial target age to 18 by default unless changed manually. The report also pointed to shortcomings in Meta’s reporting system, which employs wide age ranges like 18–24, complicating advertisers' ability to confirm they are specifically excluding 18 to 23-year-olds as required. The study advised Meta to supply audience reach data in single-year age groups. It also proposed that the technology company could set country-specific legal minimum ages as a default. Additionally, the researchers suggest the KSA make it clear to land-based gambling licensees that they must follow the same online advertising restrictions as online operators. More stringently, the report advocates for stronger enforcement actions, including the pre-approval of gambling advertisements. The government is already seeking to go further, having proposed a total ban on gambling advertising in the Netherlands. This article is provided by a third-party.
